Melissa Heads to Alaska for Internship

Melissa spent twelve weeks during this past summer working as an intern at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage Glacier, Alaska.  The AWCC is located about 50 miles southeast of Anchorage at the southern edge of the Turnagain Arm in the Chugach National Forest, and about 50 miles west of Prince William Sound.  Some of Melissa's duties included caring and feeding resident wildlife, presenting daily demonstrations, talk and/or tours to the public; developing original interpretive materials and programs; designing, preparing and conducting wildlife education programs for school and tour groups; and interacting with animal husbandry personnel.
